LSR offers Coach Pitch (Jr. Farm ) baseball for 7-8 year olds. The coach or a machine pitches to each batter from a pitcher's circle 38' to 42' from home plate. Offering seven controlled pitches per batter, there is more action at the bat and in the field. Fear of being hit by a pitched ball is greatly diminished in this league. The game is safer and overall confidence and ability is improved. If you talk to any player, parent or coach who has participated in this league, you will undoubtedly hear them say that this was the most fun and rewarding.
Coach Pitch (Jr. Farm) registration begin in February and the teams start practicing in mid-March. Teams typically practice 2 nights a week at either Glenwood Elementary, White Oaks Elementary, or Salem Woods Park. The majority of games are held at Salem Woods Park or Point of View Elementary staring in early April and ending around mid June. We typically inter-league with some combination of Kempsville Recreation Association, Arrowhead-Point of View Recreation, and/or West Kempsville Youth Association.
